Y World - YFM

I am sure we have all deeply appreciated hip-hop, rap and the associated R & B in our time. Hey Ya - the perfect song. Air Force Ones by Nelly; 99 Problems by Jay-Z; the David Banner song about steak and shrimp; those old songs by De La Soul and Tribe Called Quest.

Since South Africa is the country with a more impressive pedigree than America in the department of "INTEGRATION", it will please the reader to know that in my research for the en:Wikipedia article "List of radio stations in South Africa", the station YFM in Jozi (Johannesburg) is definitely pretty good. It has a very similar mix, with lots of South African music added in. And comparatively, it is so funny how one can tune in, listen to lots of the same songs, in a very noticeably organized, purposeful and literary production value environment. It is a really nice environment, and it feels like one is in an important place. Like Pasadena, or a shopping mall, or standing in front of the 42nd Street library in New York. I am so used to the Manhattany, collegiate, American music environment.

The bottom line, of course, is that we cannot as a nation afford to let the South Africans just run away with the future of integration without at least trying to catch up. Direct link:YFM
